Parliamentarians Speak Out On Women’s and Children’s Health at the 125th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
BERN – Women’s and children’s health was a leading item on the agenda of the 125th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Bern, Switzerland. More than 300 parliamentarians attended a panel event on a draft IPU report entitled, “Access to Health as a Basic Right: The Role of Parliaments in Addressing Key Challenges to Securing the Health of Women and Children”. The report sets out actions that Parliamentarians can take to improve women’s and children’s health and will inform a resolution at the 126th Assembly in Kampala, where maternal, newborn and child health will be a central issue.
