Commitment Progress

As per the commitment, Spark Minda Foundation by the year 2020 had to reach out to 3000 women belonging to lower Socio economic strata and rural areas from the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and Uttarakhand in the field of Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Menstrual Hygiene.
We are proud to share that, the Program executed in two phases has reached out to 3011 women and adolescents and 204 men till FY 18-19. The program benefited women, adolescents and men in the verticals of Menstrual Hygiene, family Planning and Reproductive health. ASHA, Aganwadi and Government representative from health department has also actively participated in sensitization session. A component of nutrition is also proposed to be added in the intervention in FY 19-20 to cater to the rural population after analyzing the need in the community

2017

Spark Minda Foundation by the year 2020 will reach 3000 women belonging to lower socio economic strata and rural areas from the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and Uttrakhand in the field of Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Menstrual Hygiene. Spark Minda, one of India’s leading manufacturers of automobile components, recognizes family planning as a significant contributor to women’s empowerment and socio-economic development, particularly for India’s underprivileged populations. Spark Minda therefore incorporated family planning into its corporate social responsibility program for the first time. As part of an agreement to improve awareness and generate demand for family planning, Spark Minda has allocated 402,500 Indian rupees (US $6,198) for family planning and 700,000 rupees ($10,780) for menstrual hygiene per year till 2020 in support of FP2020 and Every Woman Every Child . This will be spent on conducting sensitization workshops on family planning and reproductive health and menstrual hygiene services.

Sensitization workshops inform participants about family planning method choices, their effectiveness, and the myths and misconceptions related to each method. The Spark Minda-covered workshops will engage 1,000 people (500 women and 500 men) per year between 2017-2020 from the communities surrounding the corporation’s manufacturing units and vocational training centers in the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Participants will also learn about the nearest public health facilities offering family planning services. The sensitization workshops will be conducted by Pathfinder International India through funding from Spark Minda.

Commitment Progress

SPARK MINDA foundation by the year 2020 will reach out to 3000 women belonging to lower socio economic strata and rural areas from the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand in the field of Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Menstrual Hygiene.
As committed, the Spark Minda foundation has completed eights sensitization workshops, where the participants was  informed about family planning method choices, their effectiveness, and the myths and misconceptions related to each method. Spark Minda Foundation covered workshops  engaged 654 people (447 women and 207 men) from the communities surrounding the  manufacturing units of the Factories of Spark Minda, Ashok Minda Group and also around the  vocational training centers  in the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, where the CSR projects of the said Group is going on. Participants were linked to the nearest public health facilities offering family planning services. The sensitization workshops was conducted by Pathfinder International India through funding from Spark Minda Foundation.
Spark Minda Foundation also organized 4 awareness programs for women and adolescent girls of same locations on Menstrual Hygiene.The program trained community on hygiene, biological process, myths, taboos, disposal process etc. which has to be followed during menstruation. Community will also be taught how to make their own biodegradable sanitary pads in second phase of the program to self sustain themselves.  The technical and training partner for this Program was Jatan Sansthan and Survey Partner was GlobalHunt Foundation. 526 women and adolescent girls were covered under this program in the year 2017-18 Indian Financial Year .
The programs were also attended by Government representatives like Asha, Aaganwadi workers, Health Inspectors, representatives from district Hospitals etc.
