Jaipur Rugs Foundation

2017

Jaipur Rugs Foundation has had a long-standing commitment to under-served and marginalized populations, predominantly women from the most far flung areas of rural India, by integrating them into the organization’s value chain. This empowers women economically and ensures their sustainable livelihoods. Such employment opportunities can drive broader socioeconomic development and aligns with Every Woman Every Child’s vision of a world in which every woman, child and adolescent in every setting realizes their rights to physical and mental health and well-being, and has social and economic opportunities to be able to participate fully in shaping sustainable and prosperous societies.
This will be achieved by providing development and skills training, and functional literacy skills to female artisans. This will be further accompanied with ensuring women, children and adolescents have access to health facilities, and are adequately linked to existing benefits offered to the target population by the Indian government.

The duration of the program will be four years. The interventions will take place across five states of India namely Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand with the possibility of extending to new areas. These targeted areas have been selected based on marginalized populations’ inability to thrive from societal barriers present.

Expected outcomes from JRF’s commitment include the following:

  • Skill training of 4000 women
  • Inclusion of 2400 women in the carpet value chain
  • Functional literacy to be imparted to 2000 women
  • Access to health for 12500 women and children in rural areas

The commitment is financially valued at approximately INR 49308000 = 764465 USD.
