The Gambia


In support of Family Planning 2020 (FP2020) goals and the Every Woman Every Child Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health, The Government of the Republic of The Gambia commits to increasing access to family planning (FP) and other sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services to all Gambians who need it, including adolescents and youth by 2020; as well as attaining high quality health service delivery as articulated in the National Health and RMNCAH Policies.  This will be achieved by ensuring commodity security, availability of service providers and equipment at all service delivery points, regular supportive supervision, monitoring and evaluation and collaboration and partnership with development partners and stakeholders.

The overall Strategy for achieving these outcomes will be threefold:

  1. Policy and Political;
  2. Financial;
  3. Programmatic (General Programmatic and Service Delivery; Advocacy and Awareness; Contraceptive Security; Innovation; and Young People).
