On the occasion of August 18, the 500-day countdown until the end of the Millennium Development Goals and a springboard moment to the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in September, the day will shine a spotlight on concrete actions that can be taken to meet the health-MDGs.With input from many of our partners, Every Woman Every Child developed a toolkit, which aims to showcase results and promote accountability among new and existing commitment makers through the #Commit2Deliver platform. 
Launch of #SHOWYOURSELFIE on International Youth Day

On International Youth Day, 12 August, UNFPA and Global Citizen are launching #showyourselfie, a global campaign to urge world leaders to prioritize the needs and rights of young people in the post-2015 development agenda. People around the world are encouraged to take and submit a ‘selfie’ via Twitter, Instagram or the website www.showyourselfie.org. The campaign will collate the personal portraits and stories and present them to decision makers as a massive display of public support for increased attention to and investment in the capabilities of young people, specifically in the areas of reproductive health, education and training for work and life. International Youth Day

August 12 is International Youth Day (IYD). This year’s theme is “Youth and Mental Health”. Taking place in the ECOSOC Chamber, UNHQ, from 10:30am-1:30pm on August 12, the IYD event is being co-organized by UN DESA’s Division for Social Policy and Development and the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth. It will bring together young people, youth organizations, Member State representatives, civil society, and UN entities to discuss the issue of youth and mental-health in particular looking at issues such as the impact of stigma, discrimination and exclusion, on the local, country, and international levels.
