Attended by approximately 180 guests, the event celebrated exciting innovations that promote the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Health in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.

On September 20th, the first in-person meeting of the High-Level Advisory Group (HLAG) for Every Woman Every Child (EWEC) took place during the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly. The HLAG members agreed unanimously to evolve into a formal High-Level Steering Group that sets strategic priorities for EWEC through their 2017 term.

Government authorities, civil society and private sector leaders gathered on the margins of the UN General Assembly to thank the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, for his leadership and spearheading the Every Woman Every Child movement over the past six years. During the event on 20 September, the EWEC community celebrated results achieved since the movement was launched in 2010, as well as champions for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health and wellbeing.

New York, 22 September—Twenty-three new commitments, corresponding to over $2 billion in pledges for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health and wellbeing were announced on the margins of the UN General Assembly. This includes a pledge by Save the Children for global health and nutrition work in both development and humanitarian settings.
