World Pneumonia Day

Pneumonia is the world’s leading infectious killer of children under the age of 5. Pneumonia accounted for 15 per cent of all under-five deaths and killed 920,000 children in 2015. Most of its victims were less than 2 years old. World Pneumonia day is critical to generate momentum to keep this illness on the global agenda.

World Pneumonia Day is observed to raise awareness of the disease, promote treatment and prevention and generate action to fight against it. As one of the leading causes of death in children under five years old, it is essential to keep it on the forefront of the discussion.
