World Food Day
Theme: Change the future of migration; Invest in food security and rural development
Nearly 1 in 9 people experience extreme hunger, which is 795 million citizens of our world. The world needs to produce at least 50% more food to feed 9 billion people by 2050.
World Food Day focuses on the global goal of zero hunger. This year’s theme will address the structural drivers of large movements of people to make migration safe, orderly and regular, so that it leads to economic growth instead of hunger and poverty. FAO is hoping to harness the potential of migration in their theme for World Food Day 2017.
