International Day for Disaster Reduction

Theme: Home Safe Home: Reducing Exposure, Reducing Displacement

With today’s rapid change of climate comes the higher risk of natural disasters, and every 13 October the International Day for Disaster Reduction is observed in order to support goals and motivate action to create change in exposure to these disasters.

The 2017 campaign for the International Day for Disaster Reduction, centered on the Sendai Framework seeks to raise awareness for effective actions, policies and practices taken to reduce exposure to disaster risk at the community level.  This year’s target is centered on prevention, protection and reducing the number of people affected by disasters.
