PMNCH Annual Accountability Breakfast

Description: This year’s PMNCH breakfast and dialogue will have a stronger focus on effective national/regional political and social accountability mechanisms and how this work complements and is complemented by evidence-for-action from global monitoring and review reports. Chaired by President Dr. Michelle Bachelet (Chile/PMNCH Board) will feature comments by EWEC global champions, launch of the PMNCH Report on Commitments to the EWEC Global Strategy and a series of thematic panels.

Funding the future: Innovative Models for A New Era

Description: As world leaders gather for the United Nations General Assembly, we are convening a discussion during this key moment to highlight innovative financing models for healthcare and take an action-oriented look at how we can deepen government and private investor participation in funding the health and nutrition needs of people around the world. Approximately 50 thought leaders in attendance from governments, funding organizations and private banks, and international organizations. The on-stage panel discussion will be followed by an interactive conversation with the audience and will look to highlight a number of different funding models, identify the barriers to mobilizing private capital at scale – and possible solutions for the way forward.

 

EWEC Innovation Marketplace Business Roundtable

Description: This roundtable discussion will bring together several innovators working on medical device solutions for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health. The event will feature several innovator pitch sessions, followed by a panel discussion on Dual Market strategies and one on Challenges to Scaling. The event is by invitation only, and is targeting innovators of medical devices, companies in the medical technology space and global health investors.

Description: This High-level Reception will galvanize political momentum around the EWEC movement, in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA73), and will highlight the on-going unification of EWEC partners towards the ambition of the EWEC Global Strategy, showcasing their common strategic direction in delivering concrete results at country-level.

IAP 2018 Report launch: Private Sector – Who is Accountable?

7:45-9:30 am | UNHQ, New York

Co-hosted by the Governments of Finland and South Africa, and co-organized by the IAP with the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH)

Description: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will not be achieved without the active and meaningful involvement of the private sector. But, can the private sector be held accountable for protecting women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health? And if so, who is responsible for holding them to account, and what are the mechanisms for doing so? During this morning event, the UN Secretary-General’s Independent Accountability Panel for Every Woman, Every Child, Every Adolescent (IAP) will discuss these issues and its recommendations for improving private sector accountability at the launch of its third annual report, “Private Sector: Who Is Accountable?”.
