Acting on the Call: Acting on the Call: Overcoming Critical Barriers to Maternal and Child Survival

The Governments of Ethiopia and India in collaboration with USAID, UNICEF, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are organizing the 4th Acting on the Call 2017 Conference scheduled to take place at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the African Union Conference Center, on 24th and 25th August 2017.  The conference theme is “Overcoming Critical Barriers to Maternal and Child Survival.”

The Conference follows up on the three previous Call to Action/Acting on the Call Conferences and recall the commitment made at the 2015 meeting in New Delhi, identify the key actions that are required to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030 targets, as reflected in the Every Woman Every Child Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.

Ministerial delegations from over 25 countries as well as major public and private global stakeholders—an estimated 500 participants—will be gathering in Addis Ababa for the Conference to craft impactful solutions for today’s women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health challenges. The Conference will be divided into substantive sessions including: best practices of high-impact reproductive, maternal, newborn, child adolescent health and nutrition interventions and the marketplace, providing participants the opportunity to focus on specific areas from their own perspective and national experiences.


Calling all innovators!

Conference organizers welcome participation in this year’s Best Practices showcase which will include an Innovation Marketplace, where attendees can interact with the innovations and innovators, or via a  best practices book, which will be made available to all attendees as well as online.
