Coalition for Childhood Essential Medicines Launches in Nigeria
On October 16, the UN Foundation co-hosted a roundtable event launching the Coalition for Childhood Essential Medicines in Nigeria. This diverse alliance of private and public sector leaders has yielded support for a key pillar of Nigeria’s new Saving One Million Lives initiative—the scale-up of zinc and ORS for child diarrhea. Many participants signed the “Pledge to Eliminate Child Diarrheal Deaths in Nigeria”, recognizing that if universally available, zinc and ORS could prevent more than 500,000 child deaths by the end of 2015.
