Every Breath Counts Campaign Launch

On behalf of H.E. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, Wife of the President of Nigeria, Mrs. Toyin Saraki introduced the Every Breath Counts campaign while highlighting the disproportionate burden that pneumonia plays on children compared to the investment in pneumonia prevention or treatment. Furthermore, she encouraged all first ladies to engage in the campaign to raise awareness for pneumonia in their respective countries.

Following Mrs. Toyin Saraki’s speech, a 60-second Every Breath Counts PSA featuring H.E. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, was screened in the plenary hall. Immediately, following the OAFLA General Assembly, a luncheon was held in the courtyard, where resource materials to learn more about pneumonia and the Every Breath Counts campaign were distributed to all luncheon guests. Resource materials were also distributed at the reception desk in the main African Union conference area and the media room, totaling to approximately 600 flyers.
